YEREVAN. – At present, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is not in the country and he is carrying out more important work than following the course of the judicial process at the Constitutional Court (CC). Sargsyan’s representative at the CC, National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs Chairman, Davit Harutyunyan said this Tuesday during a briefing with news reporters. 

To the query as to whether or not Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan is defending the President’s interests at the Court, Harutyunyan specifically responded as follows:

“Who, if not the Minister of Justice, shall represent the interests of the political team, whose representative he likewise is? The ministers are the members of the political team.”  

To note, ex-presidential candidates Raffi Hovannisian and Andreas Ghukasyan had petitioned to the Constitutional Court, with a formal request to declare null and void the results of Armenia’s presidential election that was conducted on February 18.
