YEREVAN. – Education and Science Minister, ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vice-Chairman, Armen Ashotyan reacted to the rumors that he will be appointed Armenia’s Ambassador to France.

“I consider the mission of representing the state of Armenia abroad to be a great honor. In reality, I have a special position toward France and its people. I have kept fond memories [of France] even from my years as a [university] student, and I am not apathetic toward French culture.

“At the same time I should inform that, notwithstanding this, I have never petitioned to Armenia’s President with such matter, and such discussions were not held,” Ashotyan specifically wrote in his Facebook account.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the governance of Armenia’s domain of education and science could be entrusted to another RPA member, Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun daily reported.

“[President and RPA leader] Serzh Sargsyan could send Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan as ambassador to any European country. According to the rumors, these days Serzh Sargsyan is discussing the matter of appointing Armen Ashotyan as Armenia’s Ambassador to France.

Note that Armen Ashotyan petitioned to Serzh Sargsyan, three times in the last five years, asking him to appoint him ambassador to any country, even including the CIS expanse. [But] Serzh Sargsyan turned Armen Ashotyan down every time,” Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun wrote.
