YEREVAN. – “It absolutely is not difficult for me to go against the Heritage Party representatives in the Constitutional Court [CC].” Armenia’s Minister of Justice Hrayr Tovmasyan—who represents the interests of incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan in the Court—told Armenian News-NEWS.am, in response to the query as to whether it is difficult to be the opponent—at the CC—of the representatives of the Heritage Party, one of whose founding members is Tovmasyan himself.
“Psychologically, it is not difficult. It seems to everyone that if we are opponents in the court, we are enemies; this is not the case at all. After all, the objective of both parties is but one: to improve lives in Armenia. It is just that we see that road differently,” the minister noted.
In his words, leaving the courtroom, he will remain the same Hrayr Tovmasyan. He stated that he has a great input in the creation of the platform and the charter of the Heritage Party.
“I have many friends in that party. Not being a party member, I defended [party leader, former FM, ex-presidential candidate] Raffi Hovannisian in court in 2003,” Tovmasyan stressed.
