YEREVAN.- Constitutional Court Judge Kim Balayan, during the hearings in the Constitutional Court on claims of former presidential candidates Raffi Hovannisian and Adnreas Ghukasyan, casted doubt on professionalism of Hovannisian’s representative.
Balayan said that, according to Article 20 of the Constitution, everyone has the right to legal assistance.
“Under the law, if necessary, a citizen can be provided with legal aid by the state. The Law on the Constitutional Court provides a clear system which you are well aware of, you have also submitted a document stating that you have a law degree. In the Constitutional Court the representatives must have a law degree. Do you think now you are providing Raffi Hovhannisyan with necessary legal support or you are playing for the time, thus depriving Constitutional Court of a possibility to conduct an objective hearing?” the judge said, addressing Zaruhi Postanjyan.
In her turn, Mrs. Postanjyan said Raffi Hovannisian is aware that she is providing assistance necessary for the Armenian people, Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports from the court.
Kim Balayan addressed Postanjyan after she submitted a petition to the Constitutional Court requesting to bring and recount the ballot bags from all 1,988 polling stations.
