YEREVAN.- The hunger strike, launched by the former presidential candidate, leader of Heritage party Raffi Hovhannisian, endangers his image of “a good-natured” politician, Armenian politician Azat Arshakyan told reporters.
“It is difficult to make any decision in this state,” said the former deputy.
Azat Arshakyan believes internal political situation in Armenia is not critical. “People were appalled because the main political forces retreated, and Raffi Hovannisian took advantage of the situation,” said Arshakyan.
Hovannisian will either meet with the authorities and give his party colleagues a chance to make a political career, or incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan will have to find a companion to implement reform, MP said.
Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party leader, former FM Raffi Hovannisian was declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 1. He claims to be the real winner in the vote and declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square.
