BAKU. – Official Baku is offended by Turkey, and the reason for this resentment is the planned launching of flights between Armenia’s capital city Yerevan and Van, Turkey.

Ali Hasanov, the Head of Department on Social Political Issues of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, commented on this development, APA News Agency of Azerbaijan reports.

“Azerbaijan repeatedly stated and now states that we approach sensitively to any contact with the aggressor Armenian state and separatist regime of Nagorno Karabakh, particularly when these contacts are made by the friendly countries,” Hasanov said.

According to him, official Baku approaches such contact as a support and strengthening to Armenia.

“This support prolongs the period of occupation. We have double jealousy  when it is done by the countries having shared strategic interests.  It is not only ours but also Turkish society’s opinion,” Hasanov noted.

Ali Hasanov also recalled that recently, when the issue on opening borders between Turkey and Armenia was raised, the Turkish society, the political parties, and the Turkish government did not support this matter.

“We assess the opening of Van-Iravan [that is, Yerevan] flight as a certain level of support to the aggressor regime in Armenia,” the Azerbaijani official stated.
