YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan did not offer anything to me; my interlocutor is Serzh Sargsyan, and he did not forward me any proposal. Opposition Heritage Party leader, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square—stated this during a press conference at the square on Monday.
Hovannisian noted that Abrahamyan’s recent visit paid to him was a visit of courtesy, but they did not speak about any subject matter.
“There is no discussion with Mr. Abrahamyan. I said I do not view him as a mediator, or a messenger. Mr. Sargsyan can submit written or verbal proposals to me. Mr. Abrahamyan cannot bring me an offer on behalf of Serzh Sargsyan,” Hovannisian noted, and added: “Mr. Abrahamyan has no status to propose anything to me, and he should not say that my not eating food is an unacceptable ultimatum; it is an ultimatum directed at me.”
Raffi Hovannisian also stressed that he waits for Serzh Sargsyan at Liberty Square and for his proposals which, as per the ex-presidential candidate, should reflect the people’s demands.
