YEREVAN.- Protesting electorate must realize the elections are over, former deputy defense minister Vahan Shirkhanyan said, commenting on post-election developments.

Shirkhanyan noted that the opposition is also to blame for unsuccessful participation in the elections.

He said aggression that may follow protest actions will make happy only Armenia’s enemies.

“Azerbaijan and Turkey believe they are achieving their goal when Armenians are beating each other in the streets of Yerevan,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

Politician said he understands people who voted for Raffi Hovannisian because of the existing problems.

“There is poverty and every election is followed by a wave of migration. But, if opposition wants to seize power, it must be better organized,” Shirkhanyan said.
