YEREVAN.- The task of restoring the monuments is not always a matter of money. Equally important is the attitude of the population to the monuments, expert Samvel Karapetyan said.

Karapetyan, chairman of the foundation studying Armenian architecture, told reporters he could not give much information because he is not a representative of a state structure.

“I am very pleased that the historical monuments are so important to the civilized nations, that one day a year is dedicated to the monuments,” he said during the Thursday press conference dedicated to International Day for Monuments and Sites.

Karapetyan said he would like to be a minister of education for five minutes to instruct all principals to organize trips for school children and contribute to their knowledge about the Armenian monuments.
