YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP and former FM Vartan Oskanian, who heads the PAP list for the capital city Yerevan Council election that will be conducted on May 5, is suspicious about the data which the Government presents with respect to the country’s economic growth. Oskanian stated this during his talk with Yerevan’s voters on Saturday.
He pointed to three facts of reality: A large number of disenchanted citizens that demand changes; in line with surveys, a 40-percent population that wishes to emigrate immediately; and Tigran Sargsyan’s reappointment as PM.
“This means that, according to the authorities, everything is fine and there is no need to change anything,” he said.
Reflecting on the 7-percent economic growth presented by the authorities, Oskanian stated that these data are very far from reality.
“In reality, not only is the ‘economic growth’ not felt in any domain, on the contrary, regression is right before the eyes,” the PAP Yerevan mayoral candidate said, and added that such indicators are very much a result of playing with inflation and of other machinations.
