Remembrance events took place across Canada to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the 1915 Armenian Genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire.

The events were held in Montreal, Vancouver, Cambridge, Saint Catherines and Hamilton.

A remembrance event was also organized in the Armenian Community Centre of Toronto which brought together about 600 guests, including Canadian officials.

Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism Chungsen Leung read the message of the Canadian Prime Minister.

In his speech, Armenia’s Ambassador to Canada Armen Yeganyan underscored importance of the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide in order to prevent reoccurrence of such crimes.
