YEREVAN. – The Armenian National Security Service Department of Investigation completed the investigation into the criminal case, which was launched into the assassination attempt that was staged against former presidential contender, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman, Paruyr Hayrikyan.
The prosecutor of this criminal case confirmed the indictment.
In line with the factual data, in early January 2013, ex-presidential candidate, non-party affiliate, and epic poetry specialist Vardan Sedrakyan instructed Samvel Harutyunyan and Khachatur Poghosyan to kill Hayrikyan in order to end the latter’s political activities, the Prosecutor’s Office press service informs.
Sedrakyan is charged with organizing the attempted murder of a state, political, or a public figure; Poghosyan is charged with attempted murder of a state, political, or a public figure and with illegal acquiring, possession and use of a weapon; and Harutyunyan is charged with attempted murder of a state, political, or a public figure.
The criminal case, along with the indictment, is sent to court.
