YEREVAN.- Armenian Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan on Tuesday received Pennsylvania State Senator Mike Brubaker.
Hovik Abrahamyan pointed out high level of political Armenia-US contacts and expanding relations between the states. He stressed that establishment of democracy, strengthening of rule of law and protection of human rights in Armenia, are the focus of the authorities. He gave appraisal of US support for the establishment of democratic institutes in Armenia.
Senator Brubaker thanked for warm reception, noting the goal of his visit was to get acquainted with Armenia and Armenian people. He believes bilateral contacts and similar visits promote further development of bilateral relations, intensification of inter-parliamentary contacts and deepening of cooperation in a number of areas.
During the meeting, other issues concerning the Armenian-American relations were discussed. The sides highlighted the deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation at all levels, cooperation in the fields of economy, science and education, implementation of programmes and exchange of experience.
