Thousands of protestors will gather in front of the Turkish Consulate of Los Angeles this Wednesday, April 24th to demand recognition and justice for the first genocide of the 20th century.

In an attempt to raise awareness about Turkey’s ongoing denial, Armenian Americans and anti-genocide activists will take to the streets to call for an end to decades of Turkish impunityб the Armenian Youth Federation reported.

The demonstration is, organized by the Armenian Youth Federation (AYF).

“This protest goes beyond commemorating the 1.5 million lives lost during the Armenian genocide,” states Lori Tashdjian one of the leading organizers of the event. “It highlights the necessity of ending the denial by the perpetrators of the first genocide of the 20th century, in order to bring to an end to the genocides that continue to plaque humanity in the 21st century.”

In an attempt to further raise awareness about ongoing Turkish denial and how it reinforces the cycle of genocide, Armenian-American youth and human rights advocates will gather at the Los Angeles El Ray Theater that night at 7pm for the annual Silence the Lies Rock the Truth concert. Organized by a coalition of youth organizations, including the AYF, the concert brings together socially conscious and internationally known artists from the Los Angeles area to help further demonstrate the rebirth of the Armenian people despite this stain of injustice imbedded in their history.
