YEREVAN.- An awarding ceremony of the British Film Festival Review Competition was held in Yerevan on Friday (photo).

The competition within the framework of the 11th Edition of the British Film Festival was organized by the British Council, UK Embassy in Armenia, Armentel company and the Armenian Association of Film Critics and Cinema Journalists.

The winner of the competition is Gohar Hakobyan. Two Special Awards from British Embassy Yerevan and British Council Armenia went to Arpi Voskanyan and Arthur Vardikyan.

The awards were handed over by Colin Roberts, Director, Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Welcoming the participants and organizers, Colin Robert noted that the arts are very important, but the design, filmmaking and creative industries are incredibly important part of economy.

“It is serious business and it can make a huge contribution to the development of economy of the country,” he said.  

Armenia’s capital hosted the annual 11th British Film Festival on March 2-11. It was dedicated to the International Year of Water Cooperation.
