Events are taking place these days devoted to the next anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and the number of these events grows every year, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told ITAR-TASS News Agency on Friday.     

“As for our relations with Turkey, our [respective] position is based on the well-known precept: Normalization of relations without preconditions. It was on this foundation that talks with Turkey commenced in 2008 at our initiative. [And] our approach is supported by the entire international community, since the very beginning of the process to this day,” Nalbandian said. 

He added with regret, however, that Turkey has moved away from these agreements. In Nalbandian’s words, official Ankara has not only refused to ratify the Armenian-Turkish protocols, but also has returned to the language of preconditions.

“Today, the international community, numerous countries, note that the ball is in Turkey’s court, that Armenia has passed its road, and that Turkey needs to do what it promised to the international community,” Armenia’s FM stressed.
