GYUMRI. — The nephew of former Mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan has been arrested. The lawyer of Vahe Ghukasyan confirmed the reports for Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

Attorney Hayk Aklumyan said the court of  general jurisdiction of Shirak region of Armenia, under the chairmanship of Judge Suren Mnatsyan, satisfied the motion of the investigative body.

The lawyer also said that Vahe Ghukasian was charged with an attempted murder and illegal possession of arms. Alumyan noted that his client did not plead guilty. He was shot at and suffered a gunshot wound.

A shooting took place in Gyumri on April 23. The police department received a call saying Harutyun Khachatryan and Artyom Karapetyan were hospitalized. The latter died in the hospital. Criminal proceedings were instituted.
