YEREVAN. – The international reserves of Armenia comprised about $1.63 billion in March 2013, the Central Bank of Armenia bulletin reports.

The aforesaid is the lowest amount in the country’s international reserves so far this year, and this sum is $140 million less than the indicator for February 2013.

In all likelihood, this reduction in the reserves is due to the extensive foreign currency interventions in Armenia’s financial market in March, to prevent the devaluation of the Armenian dram.

The amount of cash money and deposits in the Central Bank reserves has reduced by $57 million and totaled $558 million in March. Also, the sum of securities has dropped by around $64 million and made up $1.07 billion.
