YEREVAN. – Sugar price fell by 8 percent in Armenia over the last 12 months, National Statistical Service said.

Head of the department on price statistics Gurgen Martirosyan said sugar price comprised AMD 420 (around $1) per kilo this April as compared with 460 last year.

“Decline in sugar price was one of the factors contributing to general deflation,” Martirosyan told reporters on Thursday. Sugar price is going down slowly after the September 2011 hike.

National Statistical Service reported a 0.1 percent deflation this April. This was caused by drop in the price of sugar, potatoes and vegetables.
