YEREVAN. –Armenia’s Civil Code is one of the most important legal acts, any reform in connection with it requires considerable foresight, Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan said during the debate organized in Yerevan.

Armenia’s capital is hosting a two-day debate on draft Civil Code organized on the initiative of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia and the German Society for International Cooperation.

Criminal Code reforms are particularly important among a number of measures aimed at improving the efficiency of the civil justice system and the improvement of civil law in the strategic plan of judicial and legal reforms in the country for 2012-16.

In his opening speech, Hrayr Tovmasyan said that the Civil Code needs to be amended.

The event was also attended by scientists, theorists of the law faculties of Armenian universities, experts from Germany and Georgia, representatives of international organizations, the Chamber of Advocates, including government agencies.
