YEREVAN. – Armenian political forces may play a more prominent role in the urban economy rather than individuals, ruling party MP said.

Commenting on the results of the Yerevan municipal elections, Gagik Minasyan said no matter how talented a person claiming for the post of mayor is, he should be surrounded by a team capable of studying all problems the city is faced with.

“I am sure that the Republican Party of Armenia is the force capable of doing on daily basis.Taron Margaryan is a talented manager, but apart from him, the Republican Party gathered experienced people who value their city,” Minasyan told reporters.

The Republican Party of Armenia won May 5 elections to the Yerevan City Council. Getting over 50 percent of votes, the party won the right to appoint a mayor.
