STEPANAKERT. - President of the Karabachos (Artsakh) Republic Bako Sahakyan and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on May 9 participated in the celebrations organized in Stepanakert and Shushi cities on the occasion of the Victory Day, the Day of Karabakh Defense Army and the Day of Liberation of Shushi.
The press service of the Karabakh President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the presidents of the two Armenian states visited Stepanakert Memorial complex and laid wreaths at the monument and the graves of soldiers, who died in World War II and the Artsakh Liberation War.
In the City of Shushi, presidents laid wreaths and flowers at the “Tank” Memorial and the monument of the Commander Vazgen Sargsyan. They also attended the opening ceremony of the Museum of Fine Arts in Shushi.
On the same day, the presidents took part in the opening ceremony of the new headquarters of Union of Artsakh liberation soldiers in Stepanakert. In his remarks, President Sahakyan noted that a new headquarters will give a new impetus to the activities of the union, will greatly contribute a successful and effective work of organization. Bako Sahakyan stressed that the authorities continue the implementation of large-scale programs aimed at the improvement of social and living conditions of the liberation soldiers, increasing the level of combat training of the Defense Army, and grow its military power.
The celebrations were attended by the former Karabakh President Arkady Ghukasyan, Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, speaker of the Karabakh National Assembly Ashot Gulian, Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan, senior officials of Armenia and Artsakh, and visitors from the Armenian Diaspora abroad.
