STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, President Bako Sahakyan on Saturday received a delegation of high ranking clergy from the Armenian Apostolic Church.

The delegation comprised Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church of America, Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, Prelates of the Armenian Dioceses in Tehran and in New Jougha, Archbishop Sepuh Sargsyan and Bishop Babken Chalyan, and a group of philanthropists from the diaspora.

The state-church ties, the socioeconomic situation in Artsakh, and the regional trends were discussed during the talk, Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President informs.

The President stressed the important role the Armenian Apostolic Church plays in preserving Armenian national identity in the diaspora, noting that the Church has had a great contribution in strengthening and expanding ties with the Motherland.

The interlocutors underscored the need to continuously deepen state-church interrelations, considering this among the most important foundations of the unshakable Motherland-Diaspora unity.

Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, likewise attended the discussion.
