YEREVAN. – The Armenian capital city Yerevan’s newly-elect Mayor Taron Margaryan will swear in to office on June 11, Hraparak daily reports.   

“The inaugural session of the Yerevan Council of Elders will convene on June 8, where the RPA [i.e., the ruling Republican Party], which received the majority [in the council], will nominate its mayoral candidate. Pursuant to the Law on Yerevan, the mayor’s swearing-in ceremony must take place three days later.

The President’s and the mayor’s inauguration both have ‘attributes’ of protocol. The eldest council member, accompanied by the other council members, will pick from the Yerevan History Museum the side chain that is kept there and, during the ceremony, he will place it over the side of the newly elected mayor to swear in.

Taron Margaryan will bear this side chain for a second time,” Hraparak writes.
