Chairman of the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission Robert Nazaryan assured the public that the rise in the gas price scheduled for April 1 will not in any way impact the electric energy price. He stressed that, even higher, the gas price will remain lower than that of electricity.

“The prices approved at our sitting enable us to remain competitive in this region, if, of course, we make it immediately conditional on the gas price. In this case, gas cannot be an obstacle to our producers’ competitiveness. If we consider Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Turkey, we can see the prices are much higher there than those set for our producers,” Nazaryan said.

The Commission Chairman, however, “forgot” to compare the gas and energy prices for the population. Nazaryan also said that the price for gas used by transport may be raised.

“It is logical that higher prices have impact on the cost of products. We believe that the price for gas used by transport will be raised by 16 AMD at most,” Nazaryan said.

As regards the water price, the issue is on the agenda. With reservations, Nazaryan considers the price rise justifiable.
