YEREVAN. – Gazprom Company offered to supply Russian natural gas to Armenia at a price of $189 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted the aforesaid, during Monday’s National Assembly session, responding to the query by opposition Freedom Party Chairman, MP, ex-presidential contender, former PM Hrant Bagratyan.

But, as per the PM, a 30 percent export tax is levied on natural gas, and, as a result, the price of gas becomes $270 at the border. Sargsyan added that Gazprom refuses to supply gas at a lower price because it supplies gas to Belarus with the same price.    

“Negotiations are underway as to what mechanisms to use so as not to impose the 30 percent export tax on the gas being supplied to Armenia,” Sargsyan noted.  

To Bagratyan’s remark that ArmRusGazprom Company is doubling the price for transferring the gas from the border to the consumers in Armenia, Sargsyan responded that the Public Services Regulatory Commission determines these prices, and the MPs will get a chance to get familiar with the respective calculations.

As per Armenia’s PM, the cost price of consumed natural gas is low when consumption grows.
