STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), or Artsakh, President Bako Sahakyan on Monday visited Patara village in NKR’s Askeran Region

Sahakyan attended the official opening of the memorial to those Patara villagers who fell during the Karabakh War.

In his remarks, the President underscored the construction of such monuments that perpetuate the memory of those heroes that were martyred for the independence and liberty of the Motherland, Central Information Department of the Office of the NKR President informs. He also thanked all those who contributed to the implementation of this patriotic initiative.

Bako Sahakyan noted that the Patara villagers, who devotedly fought in all the fronts of Artsakh and demonstrated themselves as brave and courageous fighters, continue to serve in the NKR Defense Army. He expressed confidence that the village residents will continue to live and work with the same vigor and to the glory of the state and nation.

Also, the President presented state awards and valuable gifts to a group of Karabakh War veterans.

Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan, NKR National Assembly Speaker Ashot Ghulyan, and several other officials likewise attended these events.
