YEREVAN. – The Armenian National Assembly (NA) on Thursday discussed the government’s draft on making an amendment and changes in the Law on the Structure of the Government of Armenia, Zhamanak daily reports.

“This bill proposes to give a minister’s status to the Government Chief of Staff. The draft was discussed but not voted on, since yesterday [Thursday] was the last day of the NA four-day sessions.       

Incidentally, the MPs in the NA were convinced that giving [Government Chief of Staff, former Minister of Finance Vache] Gabrielyan a minister’s status means PM Tigran Sargsyan will be in office for [a] long [time], [and] therefore the hopes that perhaps there will be a PM change in fall are in vain.

There was a view that if he works for several months, Gabrielyan definitely would not want to be appointed to that position, even with a minister’s status,” Zhamanak writes.
