YEREVAN. – Within the framework of his working visit to Belarusian capital city Minsk, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with his Russian colleague, Dmitry Medvedev. 

The interlocutors discussed the Armenian-Russian allied relations, the Armenian Government press service informs. In this context, they reflected on the Eurasian integration processes and the possible formats for Armenia’s engagement in them. Sargsyan informed that they discussed, together with Eurasian Economic Commission Chairman Viktor Khristenko, the matter of signing a bilateral memorandum. In his turn, Medvedev underscored Armenia’s engagement in these processes, and noted that solely a proper format for cooperation needs to be found.  

Reflecting on collaboration in the energy sector, Armenia’s PM informed that there is a complete understanding with Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation (Rosatom) of Russia, with respect to funding the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Armenia.  

The parties also discussed the precepts for subsidizing by 30 percent the price of the Russian natural gas being supplied to Armenia. As a result, an agreement was reached to apply this subsidy in the form of a grant component.  

Speaking about the setting up of a conference of donors for Armenia, Medvedev stressed that Russia stands ready to attend this conference and contribute to its success.         

In addition, the PMs of Armenia and Russia discussed the avenues for raising the level of bilateral trade turnover and implementing other joint programs.
