YEREVAN. – The international marathon, titled “Cooperation 2013,” of disabled persons who use wheelchairs got underway in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.
The event organizers are the Youth Foundation of Armenia, the Armenian Red Cross Society, and the Aparrel Association of the young disabled persons of Russia.
Aparrel Association Vice-Chairman Nikolai Budyukin informed that their organization had petitioned to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, with a request to implement this marathon. Budyukin expressed gratitude to the President and the event organizers for bringing this project to life.
The international marathon will be held from June 2 to Sunday. Over twenty disabled youth, who have come to Armenia from Russia and Ukraine, will discuss their challenges and present their own experiences in addressing these challenges. Several other events are also planned along the lines of this program.
In addition, the disabled and able-bodied persons will hold a march through the Armenian capital city’s streets, and a flash mob will be held at Northern Avenue in downtown Yerevan.
