YEREVAN. – The participants in the international marathon—titled “Cooperation 2013”—of disabled persons who use wheelchairs on Tuesday visited the Armenian Genocide Memorial in capital city Yerevan, and placed flowers in memory of the Genocide victims.
Youth Foundation of Armenia Project Manager Arusyak Poghosyan noted that the marathon participants themselves had proposed so that their first place of visit in Armenia be to one of the country’s most important sites. As a result, the Armenian Genocide Memorial was selected as their first place of visit.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the “Cooperation 2013” international marathon organizers are the Youth Foundation of Armenia, the Armenian Red Cross Society, and the Aparrel Association of the young disabled persons of Russia.
The international marathon is held from June 2 to Sunday. Over twenty disabled youth, who have come to Armenia from Russia and Ukraine, are discussing their challenges and presenting their own experiences in addressing these challenges.
