Ever since July 14, a total of 156 pigs have died in the border village of Vazashen in the Ijevan county of Armenia’s Tavush Region.

The pigs are continuing to die in the village, Vazashen prefect Lorik Badiryan told Aravot daily.

“On July 19, they formally informed me that the cause of the death of the pigs is the African swine fever disease.

“If before that the dead pigs were buried in different places, after that the pigs are buried in a particular place; disinfection is carried out,” the village head added.

According to our information, pigs have died of African swine fever likewise in Ditavan village, but its prefect Hakob Saribekyan denied this information.
