YEREVAN. – Science cannot have prospects for development without young scientists. 

President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan noted the aforesaid Wednesday during his meeting with the presidents of the science academies of more than a dozen countries, informs the Press Office of the President.

To note, these foreign guests have arrived in capital city Yerevan on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Armenia.   

Sargsyan gave a high assessment to the activities of the NAS, and stressed that Armenian scientists and scholars have greatly contributed to the development of science and the socioeconomic progress in Armenia. He also expressed the hope that the NA ranks will be replenished each year by young scientists.

The President added that the NAS’ current achievements are also due to active international cooperation.      

The visiting presidents of the academies of several countries and Serzh Sargsyan discussed the modern-day challenges of science and the prospects for the development of science. They likewise underscored the need for active cooperation among academies, and highly appreciated their collaboration with the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.    

Following the talk, the renowned scientists and scholars attended the presentation ceremony of the Armenian President’s 2013 educational awards in Information Technology.
