YEREVAN. – According to the latest Armenian National Statistical Service report, prices in Armenia rose by 6.6 percent in November of this year, as compared to November of last year, Haykakan Zhamanak writes. 

“The [prices of] food products increased by 54 percent in the given period.

“The main problem is that a food price increase is recorded in Armenia in the case when there is a sharp decline in food prices in the world for already a long time.

“According to the World Bank indicators, world food prices fell by 12 percent in October, as compared to October of the year past. 

“In view of the principles of free market economy, under these conditions the inflation being observed in Armenia is nonsense.

“The sole explanation is that, in reality, Armenia lives not by the precepts of free market economy, but rather by the oligarchic-monopolistic principles,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
