A conference on Armenian Genocide is organized at Clark University in Worcester (U.S.), newstelegram.com website reports. Scholars from U.S., Armenia, Turkey, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland and Great Britain will participate.

“By putting these topics out in the public, maybe it will change the dynamics with the (Turkish) government,” says Worcester State College philosophy professor Henry Theriault who intends to participate in another conference held in Turkey later this month. During conference in Turkey he will speak about land reparations to Armenia and Armenians. “There is evidence that some wealthy Turks became wealthy from land and property seized from Armenians,” the source quotes Theriault.

In his turn Clark conference organizer Taner Akcam claims that “there is no doubt that the genocide occurred.”

“We don’t care what the government of Turkey wants or calls the events of 1915. The conference will examine the state of research on the topic and discuss new developments,” he stated.
