YEREVAN. – Armenian government plans to carry out reforms in civil aviation, PM Tigran Sargsyan told reporters while summing up the results of 2013.

Sagrsyan stated the issue of liberalization of air service liberalization caused heated debates and resulted in revising the concept.

“After listening to the concerns of experts, we decided to attract world famous McKinsey company and ordered to design the concept of development and modernization of the airline industry. The company has summed up and presented us with a concept that formed the basis of the government’s program,” PM said.

An agreement on liberalization was signed with Russia. The Economy Ministry was instructed to conclude negotiations with other countries which will increase the number of flights and lower prices.

Besides, Economy Ministry will be in charge of political direction, while a separate department will deal with licensing and safety of flights.
