Former French Interior Minister Charles Pasqua might face 2-years imprisonment following General Prosecutor’s office demand. Besides, the prosecutor intends to impose a fine of €200.000 on the supporter of the 83-year-old former president Jacques Chirac, charged with corruption while was a minister. The trail started on April 21 in French Supreme Court of Judicature, liable of considering cases of senior officials.
Pasqua is accused of benefiting from financial support in return for awarding a license to his friend for running a casino back in 1994 and of links to bribes accepted by his colleagues in 2 business deals. He already received an 18-month prison sentence for casino case after the court convicted him of funding his election campaign for the European Parliament with proceeds from the casino’s sale.
