On the final day of his working visit to the US, Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan met with Christine Lagarde, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The PM praised the cooperation with the IMF, in terms of achieving economic development and implementing institutional reforms in Armenia.
“The IMF has been and remains our important partner in macroeconomic matters. A macroeconomic stability—to which the IMF has greatly contributed—is one of our most important achievements ever since Armenia’s independence,” Abrahamyan stated.
The PM noted that the IMF board-approved three-year program outlines a new phase of development for Armenia’s economy, and added that the Armenian government is determined to continue the reforms.
Underscoring further collaboration with Armenia, Lagarde, for her part, specifically noted:
“The IMF is everyone’s home and Armenia is a full member of this family. Armenia is a trusted partner, and we will continue cooperation with Armenia and assist in the structural reforms aimed at the development of the [country’s] economy.”
The interlocutors also discussed several other issues of further cooperation.
