YEREVAN. - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) prepares the “Strategy for Partnership with Armenia” for the next five years, said Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan during the meeting with the ADB VP Zhang Wencai, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.
According to the president’s press service, Serzh Sargsyan praised the high level of cooperation with the ADB and its activities aimed at infrastructure development and sustained economic growth in Armenia. President thanked the bank for its long-term support of Armenia.
During the meeting, Zhang Wencai noted that the ADB partnership with Armenia that started in 2005 will continue in the areas that are considered a priority for Armenia, including the infrastructure development (transportation, energy, road construction, urban development, water system) and the private sector, investments and exports. ADB official expressed willingness to organize in Armenia an investment forum, which will give the opportunity to engage new foreign investments in the economy of Armenia.
Both sides stressed the importance of working towards the construction of the “North-South” road corridor and exchanged views on the possibilities of development after the accession of Armenia to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union. Zhang Wencai expressed the opinion that Armenia’s accession to the EEU can create great opportunities for economic development in Armenia.
