YEREVAN. – About $220 million-worth of products were exported from Armenia to Russia between January and September of this year, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“[Nonetheless,] the exports [to Russia] have dropped by $15 million, or 6.3 percent, as compared to the same period last year.

“The reduction in the volume of exports to Russia is especially noteworthy by the fact that, ever since September of last year, Armenia is preparing to enter into the Eurasian Economic Union, whose need the Armenian authorities explain by the considerations of capturing the Russian market.

“[But] more noteworthy is the fact that the Russian imports of goods into Armenia have increased by 13 percent during the specified period of time. In actual fact, it is Russia which is capturing the Armenia market,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
