YEREVAN. – There is no need to unnecessarily raise the Nagorno-Karabakh issue when discussing Armenia’s Eurasian integration.

National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also press secretary of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, stated the above-said during his remarks at the NA on Wednesday.

According to him, Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) is not a part of the Republic of Armenia from the legal standpoint, and it has not submitted an application for accession to the Russia-led Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). So, as per the Armenian parliament deputy chair, it is inappropriate to ask what will happen with Karabakh in the EEU.

“It is our duty to fulfill the will of the people of Artsakh and achieve its international recognition, [and] based on the economic and political interests of the two Armenian states,” Sharmazanov noted.
