YEREVAN. – Latvia respects Armenia's decision to join Eurasian Economic Union, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs said during his meeting with Speaker of Armenian parliament Galust Sahakyan.

Sahakyan noted that the recent dynamic development of relations between the two countries speaks about mutual interest and mutual respect.

The head of Armenian parliament noted importance of cooperation within international agencies.

Speaking about Armenia's accession to Eurasian Economic Union, Sahakyan said Armenia remains committed to European values and principles, and the EU is one of Armenia's key partners.

Sahakyan touched upon the Karabakh peace process, expressing Armenia's commitment to peaceful talks. He expressed hope that Latvian colleagues will participate in the events that will mark centennial of the Armenian Genocide next April.

For his part, Minister Rinkēvičs stated Armenia and EU will continue cooperation in all areas they are interested in, and there can be a new roadmap and a new mandate.
