Ukraine’s former MP Mikhail Chechetov, who was also former first deputy of the country’s Party of Regions political party, has jumped out of the window of his apartment in capital city Kyiv and died. UNIAN news agency reported the abovementioned citing the press service of the capital city department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“Chechetov had jumped out of the seventeenth floor,” the department also informed.

Criminal proceedings have been launched under the article of “premeditated murder.” The police, however, have noted that this is standard procedure and that it was actually a suicide.

The ex-MP was detained on February 21, but he was released on bail.

He was charged with abuse of power.
