A Turkish police officer, who tear-gassed a woman wearing a red dress during an anti-government protest in Istanbul’s Gezi Park in 2013, has been ordered by the Turkish court to plant 600 trees as a punishment.

The police officer was found guilty of intentionally causing damage to health of the aforesaid protesting woman, and abuse of official power.

The court initially had sentenced the policeman to 20 months in prison, but subsequently, it commuted the sentence to compulsory labor, reported the BBC Russian Service.

In addition, the defendant will not only have to plant 600 trees, but to tend the trees until they grow.
