YEREVAN. – History is not only the past; it should also be the present, and we need to speak about it, we need to remember these events, these tragedies.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Zaorálek, on Thursday stated the above-said at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in capital city Yerevan, speaking to the reporters from Armenian News-NEWS.am and Armenpress news agencies.

“I have very profound impressions, since this is a terrible tragedy,” stressed Zaorálek. “In my view, the most important thing is that this should not be forgotten; we need to preserve it in our minds.”

To the query as to when the Czech Republic will join the countries that already have formally recognized the Armenian Genocide, the Czech FM responded that his country marks this event on a regular basis.

“I’m confident that our country will continue these discussions, and we will keep those memories alive,” concluded the Czech FM.
