YEREVAN. – We need to speak about the actions by the Police of Armenia in the context of the overall situation, said Minister of Justice Hovhannes Manukyan speaking to reporters.

He stated this in response to a query on whether the police actions against the demonstrators protesting—at Baghramian Avenue in capital city Yerevan—the electricity price hike in the country, and against the journalists covering this protest, were lawful.

In his words, the ongoing investigation will answer a series of questions, including the correspondence of police actions.

The minister also expressed the hope that an impartial investigation will be conducted, and the public will become its witness.

“Our country has gone through numerous hardships,” stressed Manukyan. “That’s why I’m confident that we will surmount this shock, too, and the public will find the right solution.”

In the minister’s words, the clear response to this question needs to be found within the legal framework.
