YEREVAN. – The woman—who had sustained a severe gunshot wound from her husband shortly after delivering a baby—is doing better.

Director of the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan, Razmik Abrahamyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Abrahamyan noted that the woman is in critical but stable condition, she is still in intensive care, but now she is able to breathe on her own.  

The newborn is also in critical but stable condition.

The physician added that there is no need for surgery, and the incident will not have any effect on the future lives of the woman and her child.  

A tragic event had occurred on June 30 at the Republican Institute of Reproductive Health, Perinatology, Obstetrics and Gynecology. A man had come to the hospital, shot his wife who had given birth recently, and killed himself.

We managed to find out that they live in Yerevan. The woman is Milena A., 27, and her husband, Hayk V., 33, had shot the woman in the neck and then committed suicide. He died on the spot, whereas the woman underwent surgery.
