The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched a criminal case on the shoot-out in Armenia’s village of Garni. One person has been detained.

The alert was received from the village’s community leader Ashot Vardanyan, whose son’s car was allegedly damaged as a result of the shootings.

The preliminary investigation revealed that on Thursday evening the son of the community leader, Marzpet Vardanyan, quarreled with two of his relatives and fellow villager Rubik Hakobyan over the space in the pass way. The quarrel continued by a gas station and turned into a fight.  At that time, according to the preliminary investigation, Hakobyan began firing from a gun. The car of the community leader’s son, as well as the windows in the gas station has been damaged.  

Community leader Ashot Vardanyan, as well as the relatives of Ruben Hakobyan, A. Sahakyan and A. Hayrapetyan interfered in the fight. They also allegedly began to fire from guns.

A. Sahakyan has been arrested on suspicion of illicit possession. Other participants of the armed hooliganism are on the wanted list.
