Deputy chief of Armenia’s General Staff of the Armed Forces, Movses Hakobyan, is convinced that the country needed the US$ 200-million loan which Russia has provided to buy weapons.
“The loan is essential so that the combat-readiness of the Armed Forces increases,” Hakobyan specifically said speaking to reporters on Saturday.
On June 26, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan had met with Transportation Minister of Russia Maksim Sokolov, who is also co-chairman of the Armenian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission. During this talk, it was announced that a $200-million Russian loan will be provided to Armenia to purchase modern weaponry.
