YEREVAN. – As a result of the constitutional reforms in Armenia, it is planned to make a transition to a 100-percent proportional election system in the country, and the main emphasis will be put on the National Assembly (NA) elections. 

Member of the Specialized Committee on Constitutional Reforms, Gagik Ghazinyan, told the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted that, pursuant to the draft Constitution, the political force that wins the elections will have a majority at the NA, and it will submit its candidate who will be appointed Prime Minister.

Ghazinyan stressed that, when passing to parliamentary governance, the political field shall be improved, and this means a proportional voting system, lists, ideology, etc.

The aforesaid committee member added, however, that many things will be decided by the Electoral Code, but they will offer solutions.

Gagik Ghazinyan also noted that even though the draft Constitution of Armenia maintains the three-tier judicial system in the country, there is no exact approach yet with respect to public involvement in carrying out justice.
